Fuoco Rotto

Marta invites us to design a new mosaic marble floor for the entrance atrium of her house in Via Lipari, Milan.
Lipari reveals itself as a link between the street name of the house and the volcanic island, a spatio-temporal doorway that allows two geographies to take place at the same time, in the same space.
We travel to the volcano. At the feet of the the mountain the former eruptions are layering one on top of each other. The solid stream of lava that runs from the pick of the volcano to the woods is the atrium of the landscape.
The floor of the house is transformed into a landscape, an open book of mosaic tiles. The lava flows along the slopes of the volcano generating a carpet that welcomes guests and invites them to discover the crater, the house. Finally the atrium is the only space in the apartment not being properly a room or being many rooms at the same time.

Marta ci invita a progettare un nuovo pavimento in mosaico di marmo per l’atrio d’ingresso della sua casa in Via Lipari a Milano.
Lipari si rivela un collegamento tra il nome della via e l’isola vulcanica, una porta spazio-temporale che permette a due geografie di svolgersi contemporaneamente, nello stesso spazio.
Viaggiamo verso il vulcano. Ai piedi della montagna, le eruzioni precedenti si sovrappongono. Il flusso compatto di lava che scorre dalla cima del vulcano fino al bosco è l’atrio del paesaggio.
Il pavimento della casa si trasforma in un paesaggio, un libro aperto di tessere di mosaico. La lava scorre lungo le pendici del vulcano, creando un tappeto che accoglie gli ospiti e li invita a scoprire il cratere, la casa. Infine, l’atrio è l’unico spazio dell’appartamento a non essere propriamente una stanza o a non essere costituito da più stanze contemporaneamente.
