Goldwatch is the narration of a period of physical isolation that unfolded in a series of images depicted by the artist Velasco Vitali within the walls of a garden adjacent to his studio.
The walls form the shape of a square, like a clock dial, hence the artist divided the space in 24 fractions. He portrayed them daily en plein air, while having a live conversation of 1 hour with a friend through his Instagram page.
The landscape is painted on a golden background as a reference to the abstract and limitless dimension of space from the medieval art.
Time, space and relations have new ways of happening.
Nature counts the passing of time through seasons while a human being cannot be precise in this action without its help.
The exhibition is a summary of this experience.
While the light changes through the windows of the Assab One room, the golden background continuously modifies the aspect of the painting.
It is an imperceptible transformation which enhance that the painting is alive.
When the moonlight hit the canvas only the shiny gold is visible.
